Official Homefront Release Date: March 15 2011
Set in the near future of a downtrodden world, with America suffering from an economic downfall and civil unrest breaking throughout the streets, Homefront is a speculative fiction which depicts a united Korea (Greater Korean republic) invading the declining America; and as a member of the American Resistance, your duty will be to protect your nation, whether you like it or not. Home is where the war is, you have no choice, nowhere to go, no place to hide, except to battle and survive!

Meanwhile, in the Far East, Kim Jong-Il (the supreme leader of North Korea) has passed away, leaving his son Kim Jung-un to rule the nation. During his rule, he unified North and South Korea. With the U.S Navy stationed in Asia retreating back to their country, Japan had come under threat of annihilation by Korea. Japan therefore surrendered and joins their “Greater Korean Republic”. Bank withdrawals had been frozen by the President, possibly due to low funds, causing chaos among the populace; while Korea continues its invasion in Asia. The threat of war was soon to be upon them. A so-called “Communications” satellite had been launched by Korea, proclaiming to bring peace to the world. However, it instead fired an Electronic Magnetic Pulse (EMP) over the U.S.A, knocking out all electricity throughout the country. Thus, the Korean army had begun their invasion.
The story was plotted by John Milius and researched by many, including a CIA agent for the best experience during the in-game war which according to the writers, is aimed to stir emotions and connections between the gaming world and virtual world.
Single player
The year is 2027; your story begins as part of the American Resistance against the invaders. Using guerrilla tactics, you and your allies have to take back your home. Under occupation and Martial Law, the world you once knew has changed. Two years of occupation had split families apart. Together with different futuristic devices and a range of weapons, you will sacrifice yourself to save your country.
The single player mode is said to be inspired by Half-Life 2
Multiplayer
The multiplayer mode will be similar to Frontlines: Fuels of war
, another successful video game by Kaos Studio. It uses a Battle Point system where players are awarded points for achieving objectives and killing their opponents; then, they can then use these points to purchase weapons, vehicles and other gadgets to ‘upgrade’ themselves. Sounds rather typical, doesn’t it?
