The main problem
Well, usually, pre-order bonuses comprises items like skins and gears, which do not affect the overall gameplay besides the sometimes flashy, striking outlook. However, what they are offering now are weapons, weapons which may change the final result of a game. On top of that, these weapons are completely unattainable throughout the full release of the game which means only those who pre-ordered the game are given the privilege.
It reflects on how EA works and if they think that by giving pre-order bonuses will raise their early demands, i believe they're wrong. For a start, the injustice they are indirectly promoting now will deter gamers from getting the game if they didn't pre-order it (well, that's how I think it will be). Then, with the massive competition from Activision Blizzard's Modern Warfare 3 just around the corner, gamers will most likely opt for that, or not opt for any military shooter at all. Well, I'm pretty sure that EA's greatest rival will use this as an opportunity to continue and launch a full-frontal attack.
In fact, according to a recent forum poll at EA, 92% of gamers are against the idea and the Reddit gaming community are already retaliating, threatening to boycott the once highly-anticipated Battlefield 3. It looks like the future of BF3 is rather uncertain, don't you think so?
Hopefully, EA will change its decision as it did for the case of Battlefield: Bad Company. Afterall, it's not too late. What do you think? Will EA succumb to gamers demands, or are you just not bothered about it?
