For iPod, iPhone, and iPad
In 3 days the long awaited iOS game, Infinity Blade will be released. What? You haven't heard of it? Well for those of you who have, give yourself a pat on the back for finding out about this beautiful looking iOS app. If you haven't, well get ready to immerse yourself in this stunning world created by the bringers of Gears of War. We have already said that we only review games that we deem worthy, so you may wonder why we're reviewing an iOS app. I mean, don't they all include either cartoony or blocky 3D graphics. Well if you thought that was the truth, then let make it clear to you in two words. You're wrong.
Infinity Blade's main wow factor will be it's graphics. You could never have thought you would see such graphics on an iPod. Well this is because like it is said above, this game is created by Epic Games, the creators of Gears of War and the Unreal Engine (which is the engine used to create many great games like Medal of Honor, Mirror's Edge, and Batman: Arkham Asylum). They are bringing the Unreal Engine to iOS, which means that graphics will be nicer and gameplay smoother. This also means that they may release their engine to other developers, so the release of this app may pave the way for better iOS games, so that the iPod and iPad can be considered true gaming devices.
If you want to see the graphics yourself you can always get the free demo, Epic Citadel. The demo however only showcases the graphics, and although you are able to move in it, it is just used so that you can travel the city to look at the beautiful, mind-blowing graphics.

Gameplay and Story
The gameplay for this game will mostly be action packed fighting, but there will also be many RPG aspects. You basically have 4 stats, health, magic, attack, and shield. Health and attack are self-explanatory, but shield is not just your defense. It is the damage threshold of your shield(of course) so once it passes that limit you have to fight without blocking. And magic is basically the strength of your spells. You earn money by progressing through the game and finding money bags and you will get buy new weapons, items and shields.
One unique aspect of this game is the items. While you use your item you drain XP from it, so once you drain all the XP into your character, you will master the weapon and earn a skill point. Also if you level up you earn two skill points. The tricky thing is that if you decide to keep using a mastered weapon, you will not drain XP and your character will not progress as fast. Sure it would help to have a good shield, but it wouldn't help with your characters level. You need to keep on leveling because when you meet the main boss, the God King, if you lose you will wake up around 20 years later at the beginning of his castle. However, the catch is that, all the monsters will be stronger as well as the God King, so that is why is important to level your character and master items.
Unfortunately, there won't be any quests, just this, kill the God King. Despite that don't be put off by the lack of story. There still is a story, but there are just no side quests, the main objective is to kill the God King and his minions.
Conclusion
Finally, I would like to say that it looks great, but it seems as though there are many high expectations and there might be some disappointments, like all games. One thing is for sure, is that you can rely on the great graphics of the game to be revolutionary.
