SIR Games Rating: 7/10
They say that the only people who dream of going to war are the people who have never experienced it. Well that being said, if you play Medal of Honor I am sure you will be ready to die for your country. Medal of Honor is an amazing game from start to finish, and the moment I finished this game two words echoed in my mind: Instant Classic. And then, one more word crossed my mind: Replay.
Story: 8/10
Featuring a gripping story with great attention to detail, Dice and Danger Close really get players hooked. For the first time in its 11 year history, the Medal of Honor franchise moves out of its usual World War II setting and into a modern war set in Afghanistan. You follow a group of elite soldiers into the fray, and play with very memorable characters with very unique characteristics. The main difference between Medal of Honor and its counterparts is that the story is very in depth and delicate. Furthermore, the missions are much longer and, like in real life, the soldiers face many runs of bad luck and errors. :(
Another great aspect of the game is that you play many different types of missions. There are normal frontline missions with barrages of enemy fire sailing overhead, stealth missions when you’re armed with nothing but a knife and a silenced pistol, and even a mission where you play as a helicopter pilot. Gameplay: 7/10
There is nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to gameplay and controls. The stealthy aspect of the game is sound, and the different types of movement are normal. You can walk, run, crouch or go prone. However, in Medal of Honor I discovered that you can run and slide behind cover, much like a sliding tackle in football, and its really super cool! Although this is a useful maneuver I feel that the ability to slide at your allies and topple them over is a little too comical and it is not really practical at times as the battle can be really intense and sliding here and there may not really be a good option. Another point I notice is that the game is heavily scripted; for instance, we had to rush a machine gun nest and also provide covering fire for allies and we threw a bomb, only to know that it had no effect as the scripted event hadn’t kicked in -.- Besides, each level is linear in design so it is just a matter of advancing to the next objective or checkpoint. Furthermore, you have to wait for your teammate to catch up with you in order to advance. This, I felt was annoying as it happens too many times throughout the game! Overall, Medal of Honor consist of a good set of controls, and one that everyone who has played first person shooters will know well. Graphics and Sound: 7/10
Considering the last first person shooter I played was Modern Warfare 2, I find the graphics of Medal of Honor remarkable and more realistic. The Afghanistan setting is well mapped and designed, and a lot of detail is put into consideration. Along with graphics, the sound in this game is much improved. Gunshots and explosions sound eerily realistic, and the cut scenes and movies add a nice flavor to the game. However I find the cut scene graphics average at best, and the terrorists you fight are basically of 3 or 4 different models.
Conclusion 7/10
With both its ups and its downs, I admit Medal of Honor does fit in well among the other great FPS games around. Some parts are great, others not so, and it became a good final product. I am certainly impressed by this game, and feel as though the Medal of Honor franchise should have attempted to create a game based on the war on terror a long time ago.
The Awesomeness:
![]() |
| a scene where battle gets intense! |
+ Intense, great to play action
+ Good controls
+ Allows you to play in many different scenarios
The Disappointments:
- Rather short campaign
- Heavily scripted campaign
- Have to wait for teammates in order to advance and the situation happens too much!
Okay so this time we tried to record the gameplay and cinematics of Medal of Honor and I admit that it the resolution kinda sucks (Impulse's sucky camera as we don't have a those xbox recorder :( ..he's definitely gona kill me xD)..but nevertheless we are planning to buy one to improve the quality and if you wish to see the video just for a break, why not click on the play button and see what happens :D btw..we purposely didnt want to do this in a professional way where we speak monotously and meticulously so yeah..i would rather call it as a friendly commentary or just a casual chat on games, enjoy! :D
