 black ops review
Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened EditionThe infamous first-person shooter from the Call of Duty series, Black Ops has finally arrived and as promised, it takes place during the Cuban missile crisis and the Vietnam War, sending you back to ‘modern’ history and giving you one of the most memorable times of your life. True enough, the moment I eagerly placed my hands on the controller and began the game, I simply couldn’t stop…

Story
In this sequel for COD, you will be playing as Cpt. Mason, a member of a CIA Black Ops group. As said by John F. Kennedy, you are one of the best soldiers and the first mission takes place on Cuba where you have been assigned to kill the notorious Fidel Castro. Inevitably, you fail, as Castro was so paranoid that he implements a double to protect himself. After helping his friends escape, he was captured and taken to a labour camp in Northern Russia called Vorkuta. It is there that you meet Reznov, an old WW2 veteran seen in COD: World at War, (to mention how he got there would be spoiling the game for you guys so do go and play it to find out!) Anyways, he helps you to escape and so you find yourself back in Washington, but with a new mission assigned to you by JFK himself to kill Dragovich, the one who put you in prison in the at first. However as you progress through the game, a Russian strike mission sends you on a desperate race to find where the missile is being held. This missile is rumored to contain a new toxic gas called Nova 6, the effect of this gas can be seen in certain levels of the game.
Basically, the story seems to be a sequel to the favorite game of its time, Call of duty: World at Warblack ops review which is set during WW2. The player will get to see what Reznov looks like in this older life AND will be able to actually see Dmitri’s face as the player hasn’t been able to before. (so guys, do watch out for him!)

Graphics
The graphics were said to be better than Modern Warfare 2, however, upon further inspection, I though they almost look the same, of course they added a few tweaks here and there but that’s it. However, the explosions and dismemberment of the enemy AI’s limbs have improved and look rather realistic. *for those who aren’t that engaged into blood and gory stuff, you may not like it as it can get a tad too disturbing at times :(

Gameplay
The game play is almost similar Modern Warfare 2, but it now has much more cooler weapons (you will read more in the next section) and new action packed, exciting mini-games which include a slow motion shooting (I thought that it was pretty interesting!) and using various technology to aid the soldiers.

Gunplay
Black ops Reivew sceneThe gunplay in this game, I must say, is indisputably a must..must..must-try-now!! Filled with more explosions and bloody scenes than ever before, a whole new arsenal of weapons is released. You will find yourself handling with never-seen before weapons which may not exactly relate to historic findings, but awesomely modified. Examples includes an Ak-47 with a flamethrower attachment, a crossbow that can also shoot explosive arrows, a Nova 6 grenade and my favorite, a cute but rather deadly Mini-gun!!

Multiplayer
Black Ops ReviewWith new game modes and customization of your characters, this could latest installation in the series is set to overtake the current favourite Modern Warfare 2. New maps include a good replica of a Nuke town, which is used to test the effect of a nuclear explosion near it. Rewards for killstreaks have now become even better with an exploding RC car used to catch your opponents off guard, and a Carpet bomb strike, sorry fella’s no AC130’s here. For the customization, you can add what weapons should be equipped, what passive skills should be set and how you would like your character to look like. With the new multiplayer interface comes impressive gadgets and a motion detector which can be set up to tell you when an opponent is about to enter your marked area so that you can ambush him. Other gadgets can be chosen for your custom character when you get the game.

ZOMBIE MODE
Together with multiplayer, the Zombie game mode has come a long way since World at War, where you had to kill the Nazi zombies. Here in Black ops, you have to kill zombies which have invaded the pentagon; it is a Defcon 1 so it should be dealt with ASAP. In the new zombie map, you can now play as one of the famous leaders during the time of the game, John F. Kennedy and Fidel Castro to name a few. This could be a world-wide favorite for many zombie lovers out there!

Audio
The music that is put on during the Vietnam levels has been great to listen to while enjoying the game and of course, shooting at helpless soldiers fleeing in terror. The sound effects have been a great support for the game, without it, the game will seem almost boring.

Conclusion
For this new installment in the series of Call of Duty, it simply is a terrific game, and very different from its predecessors. The drawbacks, however, are that the whole game hasn’t enough objectives for you to complete and you soon find yourself waiting for the next in this fantastic series.  Despite this, you will have immense fun playing this game and it is well worth the price you pay for it.
