Halo:Reach Review

 SIR Games Rating: 8.5/10

So I decided to order a copy of Halo Reach a month ago from PlayAsia and when it arrived I was delighted.  With a beautiful box art and my preconceived notion of it being a great game, I quickly opened it and inserted the disc in my Xbox 360.  The main menu was beautiful and paying no attention to anything else I started the Campaign.

Story
In Halo Reach, you play, once again, as a Spartan, but this time you are Noble Six, a new recruit to the Noble Team, the Spartan team in charge of defending the Planet Reach, the setting of this game.  While you are in the team of Spartans, you might have a slight attachment to the characters because Bungie has created their expressions and emotions so well.  The different teammates you have are so unique, each with colourful personalities.  You will be addicted to the game’s storyline and never put it down.

Graphics
I didn’t think it was possible, but the graphics are even more polished and refined, and everything, from the characters to the environments, is as detailed as can be.  The animations are near perfect, with smooth actions and few frame jumps.  The cutscenes for the game seem more realistic and they’re like this because the creators made it seem it was recorded with real cameras, as well as a camera showing your POV at times.

Gameplay
I noticed there are quite a few changes, such as health not being regenerative and melee attacks, as well as plasma grenades or grenades in general, being nerfed.  The computer AI for the enemies is even better if you are playing on a harder difficulty, like Heroic or Legendary, but the AI of your allies is still horrible, maybe even worse if you are on harder difficulties.  The campaign mode is great, as I have said before, and you fight in more open battles, unlike the previous installments where you fight in enclosed hallways and the like.  Once you are finished with the campaign mode, you can continue to play in the best thing Halo offers, Multiplayer.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer modes from Halo 3 all return to Halo Reach and there even newer modes such as Invasion, where Elites and Spartans battle to control the map.  And then there is Firefight.  There is nothing more enjoyable than to kill waves and waves and waves of enemies with your friends.  There are even new modes in Firefight, such as a competitive 2vs2 mode.  In all modes – including Campaign Mode – you can use your personal and customizable Spartan, which is awesome because it makes you feel unique.  However, nothing is perfect, and that applies to Halo Reach.  Sadly, there is a lack of original multiplayer maps, BUT Forge is also back for those of you that have the time to create your maps, so you can even create new and better maps!

For those of you that do not like reading reviews here is the point form:
+Awesome box art
+Cool campaign story
+Awesome Spartan Team who you will grow to love
+Menu background changes as you progress through campaign mode (This is not mentioned above)
-Grenades and melee attacks downgraded
+Firefight is back, as well as some new modes
-Not many original maps
+There are also new vehicles and weapons
+Cooler cutscenes that seem more realistic and dark
+Better graphics which are detailed

Final Score: 8.5
